The curriculum design of this department primarily focuses on cultivating outstanding clinical physicians with a passion for service. It emphasizes a holistic medical education philosophy that integrates local community care and rural healthcare services. By leveraging the strengths of our university and the central Taiwan region in both basic and clinical medical research, the program promotes interdisciplinary medical development. Additionally, it strengthens specialized fields such as geriatric care, occupational medicine, preventive medicine, rural medicine, indigenous healthcare, and smart medicine, ensuring that courses align with these unique needs and characteristics. This approach embodies the concept of "holistic healthcare" and upholds the responsibility of supporting medical care and assistance for underprivileged communities in rural areas of central Taiwan.

The department's development focuses on training professional physicians who embody the principles of holistic healthcare and humanistic concern for rural communities while possessing expertise in both basic and clinical medicine. In addition to mandatory courses that build essential medical knowledge and skills, the department has designed a diverse set of elective courses, referred to as "modular courses." These courses aim to equip future physicians with interdisciplinary knowledge and the ability to adapt to social changes and diverse challenges.
